Scanned Lidar and Laser Ranging Photoreceivers (InGaAs APD)
Our laser ranging photoreceiver products—which include custom pulse detection and processing circuits—achieve state of the art sensitivity that enables reducing laser pulse energy requirements by a factor of at least 20 compared to PIN photodiode receivers and a factor of at least five compared to competitor APD photoreceivers.
To achieve the stable gain required for the highest sensitivity imaging capabilities of our APD photoreceivers—especially at higher temperature operation, where impact ionization would otherwise decrease, leading to unstable gain witnessed as noise—temperature is monitored thousands of times per second and APD bias is optimized by a microcontroller integrated into the TO-8 package.
To give system designers a turnkey laser ranging solution for thermal, electro-optical and optical scope integration, these photoreceivers are available with optional laser ranging control electronics to control a user-provided laser. The result is a compact, lightweight, highly reliable ranging module with excellent performance.
